Villa del Cerro

Troccoli

Luis Trocoli Monumental Stadium, known simply as “Troccoli” Uruguay is a stadium located in the city of Montevideo.

It belongs to Club Atletico Cerro, the fist Division team from Uruguay. It has a capacity for 24.000 people, second largest private stadium in Uruguay. Currently (2010) has remodeled leaving the stadium ready  for international competitions in it. It is named  in honor of the politican Luis Troccoli, who was an outsanding club president

Fortress

The fortress of the general Artigas is a fort built on the  top of Cerro de Montevideo by order of governor Francisco Javier Elio, in 1808. The work began the following year and it was  completed in 1811 so it is the last building in the  territory "españolista de la Banda Oriental, Uruguay" today.

Memorial to the Disappeared

Originated in 1998 as a joint project of the Municipality of Montevideo and Mothers and relatives of the disappeared.


" Villa Del Cerro " is one of the neighborhood of sixty four that have been formed in Montevideo.
 It is to the west of the city, to approximately fifteen
 Kilometres of the downtown and at present it possesses approximately 35.000 inhabitants
 Distributed in twenty nine squares.
  The Cerro de Montevideo, which from off does not seem to be very high in spite of his height it has 132 meters of height, there are many houses.
 Several parts of the Cerro were constructed by descendants of European immigrants: Italians, Lithuanians, Poles, Russians among others.
 Due to the wars they emigrated towards uruguay, which opened his doors for these immigrants, and this way the neighborhood was populating.
 In the Cerro we can find the Fortaleza, the Military Museum where there is a monument of the General Artigas.
 The Fortaleza  was constructed in 1808.

People of Cerro, the neighborhood Today Cerro, was founded in 1834 under Cosmópolis's name.
 His streets take the name of diverse countries.

 There was formed an immigrants' traditional neighborhood and with the time it has managed to turn also exactly of tourist interest, with the historical Fortaleza Militar and the maritime ride.

 In the epoch of the settling of america, the Hill was a strategic point to protect the port of Montevideo, due to it the Fortaleza was constructed there.
 The hill was a scene of numerous battles during the settling.

Places: Rome

Rome's religious buildings are a fundamental part of the architectural heritage of the city. They are the symbol of the cultural, social and artistic religious component during all periods of Roman history. The most important buildings of antiquity were sacred temples. There are hundreds of christian churches and its history is linked to its religious , social and artistic history of the city.


The main squares of Rome, were created  during the Renaissance and the Baroque Period, and tend to give  witness to the creative capacity of an ideal of harmonious living between humanistic exaltation and supernatural attributes. Among the most famous roman squares are Piazza Spagna, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Colonna, Piazza Farnese, the long di Torre Argentina, Campo de 'Fiori and  Piazza San Pietro.
